The timeless style of my work and my approach to capturing the story and spirit of place and moments in time make it well suited for a wide range of projects, from meaningful gifts and statement pieces to branding and interior design. I create both black-and-white drawings and watercolors, which have been commissioned for projects including stationery and wedding invitations, boutique hotel branding imagery, university websites, realtor closing gifts, custom interior gallery walls, personal gifts commemorating special locations and events, stand-up paddle boards, puzzles, wine bottle labels and murals. Commissioned artwork can be created either en plein air or from reference images.
Ink Drawings
Ink drawings may be created from reference photographs or en plein air. Each detailed drawing reflects my careful attention to composition and flow, building depth and value through layered line work guided by traditional techniques and a steady, experienced hand. When working from reference images, I approach each drawing as if I were on site, making thoughtful decisions about composition and scope.
Watercolors
These line-and-wash watercolors begin with detailed ink line work in my signature style. Each piece is painted thoughtfully and intentionally, with careful attention to composition, balance, and the expressive use of white space.
Narrative Montage
A drawing and watercolor montage is a visual narrative in which I collage drawings together, weaving one element into the next to create a larger composition and a sweeping story. I thoughtfully consider scale, contrast, color, and composition to create visual interest throughout the piece. From a distance, the work reads powerfully, while up close, hidden details and small surprises emerge—making this approach well suited for both smaller, nuanced illustrations and larger pieces and murals.
Portraits
When drawing portraits in ink, I balance simplicity and minimal marks with just enough detail for each individual to feel recognizable. As with all of my work—from architecture to landscapes, my focus is on composition, contrast, and thoughtful decisions about which elements to include and which to leave out.
